August and September Workshop Projects

Here is a sneak peak at the projects my August and September Workshop Hostesses and their guests will be making. The first project is a 3-D Witches Hat Treat Holder. If you have small children you won't want to miss this project. It is super simple and very fast for a hand made treat holder. You're friends will thank you for showing them such a useful project. Or if Halloween isn't your thing there are more choices below.

Two fairly simple cards both featuring the Tearing Edge Ruler, one of my favorite tools. August and September are a great time to get your creative juices flowing again just in time for Christmas crafting.

Owl Punch Goes Back to School: Part 2

I loved the color combination and the elements I used on the pencil case I showed you yesterday so much I thought I'd try it on a composition book. Again, I am super pleased with the result. That little owl is just so stinkin' cute it makes almost anything look good.

Owl Punch Goes Back to School: Part 1

As a Stampin' Up! Demonstrator I receive a special publication called Stampin' Success once a month. There was a project very similar to this one featured in this months issue, but it used an owl stamp. I knew I had to try one myself with the new Two Step Owl Punch and I have to say I am so pleased.

There are certain things that when your finished with them they just make you smile and this is definately one of them. If there are enough requests I'd be more than happy to write up some quick instructions for this project.

Two Step Owl Punch: great for back to school!

For those of you that read my post last week "New Catalog Goodies: what should you get?" you'll probably remember that the NEW Two-Step XL Owl Punch was one of my top three choices from the new 2010-2011 Stampin' Up! Idea Book & Catalog. Though I've had it for a week I just now was able to sit down and play. 

I am definitely not disappointed with the Two-Step Owl Punch. While there are a few pieces to put together the owl is so cute when its finished. For the paperclip bookmark above I just punched a second owl body and then used Stampin' Dimensionals to attach the two owls to either side of an extra large paperclip. These make terrific student or teacher gifts for back to school.

Here's a shot of how to add the Stampin' Dimensionals.

I added five Stampin' Dimensionals total so the owl wouldn't slide around on the paperclip. These super big paperclips used to be available at Walmart. 10 for $1. Can't beat that but I'm told they've discontinued them. If anyone else finds them around town let me know and I'll be sure to post the info here for everyone.

Whatever Wednesday: Mini Scallop Purse

How cute is this? One of my awesome downline, Retta, gave this to me when she stopped by one day. Many of you have probably seen purses like this on previous posts but a bit larger. They are made using the Stampin' Up! exclusive Scallop Square Die (#115950). 

It looks like this.

The scallop square is 4 3/8".

I really like this die because I've used it on a lot of projects. It's such a pleasing shape.

So how do you use a die to make a purse? Well, the Sizzix Big Shot and many of the dies are designed to be used on tons of different materials from paper, chipboard, cardstock, fabric, metals, wood, cork, felt and the list goes on and on. In the case of this purse the die was used to cut scallop squares from fabric. Even better, when using a normal weight cotton fabric you cut through eight layers at a time!!! Making this a super fast project.

When you look at the versitility of the Sizzix Big Shot you really begin to see the value it has to offer. If you have questions or would like to talk about what all you can do with the Big Shot feel free to contact me anytime.

Father's Day Frenzy Winner

Fathers Day Frenzy: Day 8 Poker Shirt and more

This little origami shirt cracks me up. I hadn't made one before today so first I used some plain cardstock to try it out. Then I made this one out of the fun Jackpot Designer Series Paper and both times when I did the last step I just started laughing. Ok, so maybe I'm a little nutty but give it a try and see if you don't chuckle just a little.

Anyway back to the task at hand. This is more than just a funny origami poker shirt. You can also tuck some goodies inside. I used a medium cello bag and filled it with peppermint candies (because that's what I happen to have on hand, you can fill it with dads favorite). Then you just fold over the top of the cello bag and tuck it inside the shirt. You could also add a gift card to one of dads favorite stores or some cash.

If you're having a Father's Day get together you could put one of these at dads seat as a place card. The skies the limit I'm sure yall with come up with even more ideas.

Father's Day Frenzy: Day 6 Gift Wallet

My father-in-law is tough to buy for because he is at the stage in life where he seems to have everything. For this reason I'm always looking for a unique way to give him a gift card. Something a little more exciting than a regular card with a gift card popped in the middle.

This wallet perfect. It has two slots for gift cards and a place for cash.

Obviously this could be used for more than Father's Day. Great for graduation or birthdays too!

Build A Bear Explosion Box

Yesterday when I posted all the info about the Explosion Box Class on Sunday, April 25th I was still waiting on one of the supplies to finish up this box. So here it is. The Build A Bear version of the Explosion Box.
