In honor of National Boy Scout Day I have the perfect treat bag to share with you. This adorable little wolf is perfect for use with young scouts because at that age their packs are called wolf packs.
Would you believe his face is made using a couple of Sizzix Dies? The Top Note and Scallop Oval dies.
I created this box and a host of others using the same basic pattern and demonstrated them last weekend at the Lone Star Stampers Sale-a-bration Extravaganza. Everyone fell in love with them just like I did. They created such a stir I've decided to make them my class of the month for February. This class will be released on February 15th so stay tuned.
With the economy still on the rebound we all need to get as much bang for our buck as possible. So each Thursday I'll show you inexpensive ways to use your paper crafting supplies.
Once I got this far the elementary school lined paper I used on the front panel immediately made me think of the school children in the Greeting Card Kids stamp set. So with a little more effort it turned into what you see today.
I was really having a tough time deciding if I should give this to my son's classroom teacher or the principal. I've already made a few things for his classroom teacher so I thought I'd give this one to the principal. She is so cheery and just a delight to be around. I think she deserves something special too.
All told this project cost me about $3 to $4.
Not bad for a chic boutique look!
Stop back next Thursday and I'll show you a few coordinating accessories to go with this gift.
When I first saw the You're A Gem stamp set and the new Trinket Keys in the Occassions Mini Catalog I knew they were meant to go together like peanut butter and chocolate. Then when I was getting some Valentine's together using the Heart Treat cups it dawned on me to put one of the keys inside and today's project was born.
Check out today's Watch It Wednesday video to see how to make one yourself. This is a high definition video so you should have no problem watching it full screen. Just click the full screen button on the bottom right of the player. It looks like this.

This weeks project.
I grew up a garage sale shopper and still love to hit the sales on a Saturday morning or drop by one of our local Goodwill Thrift Shops anyday of the week. I always find little wooden boxes of one sort or another. With a coat of paint or the addition of a little paper here and there many of these finds can truely go from trash to treasure.
Here is what today's piece started as.
For only $2.99 it has really nice lines and I love that it's already painted black. But the roosters had to go and the heart cut out makes the piece a little dated.
So far all I've done is add a little paper from the Love Letters Designer Series Paper package. While I was choosing which patterns to use from the paper pack I came across the design with the lines that look like elementary school writing paper and thought how perfect it would be to use that one on the front. This gives the perfect place to add a label or a name. I'm not certain if I'm going to give this to my son's teacher or principal.
Stop back next week to see this project evolve a little further and who the lucky educator will be.
Each year I like to choose one of my 12 Weeks of Christmas Tutorials, normally reserved exclusively for newsletter subscribers, and share it with everyone as a little Christmas Gift. This year I decided to share my Snowman Soup 2010 edition. Snowman Soup is such a popular project I make a new version every year.
The poem on the outside of the cup carrier reads:
When the weather outside is frightful, Snowman Soup can be delightful. May it warm your spirit and your soul. Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow! When you feel a chill or are saying "brrrr," Use the candy cane stick to stir. Add hot water and sip it slow. Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow!
Inside of each cup you place the ingredients for Snowman Soup.
Hot Chocolate Mix
Marshmellows
Candy Cane
Hershey Kisses
If you're short on time or want a simplified version of the project just making the cup is an easy solution. Snowman Soup makes a terrific little something for school workers (the freezing crossing guards, lol), kids coaches, or anyone you need a little something for.
Below is a series of four videos that take you through the project step by step, a PDF of the poem sized perfectly for the cup carrier and a project "One Sheet". The One Sheet is a single printable sheet that shows a picture of the project, lists all the supplies used and basic cutting measurements. This is a great quick reference guide.
If you enjoyed this project be sure to sign up for my monthly INKspirations Newsletter. Each month you'll receive exclusive hints, tips, tricks and a new project complete with a step by step tutorial.

This weeks project.
This project is both thrifty and fast. I wasn't sure if I should share it today for Thrifty Thursday or wait until Super Simple Saturday. Great to add to your own tree, you can color coordinate them with anything or use for a holiday ornament exchange. The recipient will love how cute these are and be double impressed that you made it yourself.
When finished this ornament costs less than fifty cents!
How To:
To make the ornament just pick up a box of clear ornaments at your local carft store.
Remove the top of the ornament.
Cut 5-10 strips of your favorite Designer Series Paper (must be double sided) to 1/2" x 6". Wrap around a pencil to curl.
Slide the strip off the pencil, but keep curled, insert into the ornament. Add as many as you like.
Add glitter (Chunky Glitter, Glass Glitter or Dazzling Diamonds) and a bit of faux snow.
Put the top back on the ornament.
Add a ribbon or two to finish it off.
Making a bunch of these with a group of friends would be a terrific way to kick off the holiday season. Why not whip some up on turkey day with your family or plan a girls night out.

Some of you may recognize this wonderful wreath from last year. It was such a popular project I've already had requests for instructions this year. I decided this would make a terrific project for Watch It Wednesday.
The wreath shown in the photo above uses last years Designer Series Paper but in the video I demonstrate the project using this year's Deck the Halls Designer Series Paper (DSP) and also show one created with the Jolly Holiday DSP.
Last year I gave this wreath to several people as a gift, including my son's preschool teachers. They all loved it.
This is a video you don't want to miss.

This Week's Project
One of my favorite things to create with my paper crafting supplies are party favors. However it can be difficult to come up with a creation that doesn't include food. When I saw this terrific idea from fellow demonstrator Sarah Wills I knew I needed to share it with you.
Adding a quick topper to a pair of dollar spot knit gloves is a great way to make a none edible party favor. Just imagine the oh's and ah's you'll hear when you hand these out at your next gathering. They would be great for Ice Skating, Sledding, Halloween, Trick or Treat, Caroling or neighborhood get together.
This project is also simple and quick to complete. All of the hard work is done by the Sizzix Big Shot and Stampin' Up!s exclusive Top Note Die.
Here's How
Pick up a pair of knit gloves. Leave the plastic thingy that holds the gloves together but remove any the paper tags.
Use the Sizzix Big Shot and Top Note Die to cut a piece of Designer Series Paper and coordinating cardstock. Trim the edge of the DSP away along the stitch line left from the Top Note Die. Adhere to the cardstock Top Note.
Score 1/4" from each side of the center point of the top note.
Adhere gloves and Top Note to each other using Sticky Strip.
Add ribbon on top and stamped image to front.
What Did It Cost?
Gloves $1.00
Cardstock $ .15
DSP $ .14
Seam Binding $ .23
TOTAL $1.52
